LIFTING LOCKDOWN: TIPS FROM A GP
“Lifting Lockdown: Tips from a GP ” was an original piece of work I created independently in the summer of 2020, to specifically tackle the disproportionate harms of COVID-19 on Black and Brown communities in the face of limited and confused messaging from the UK government. With backing from 8 different medical and dental associations and forewords from Dr Bob Gill, GP and NHS campaigner and Professor Dame Donna Kinnair, Chief Executive & General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, this guide went on to be widely shared and positively received.
This snowballed into a grassroots movement to create a culturally sensitive, practical framework to help protect some of the most vulnerable in our society. My work formed the basis of research by King’s College London, was integrated into marginalised communities through teaching workshops and the media and the resulting research was presented at the largest international conference in Europe focussed on improving healthcare.
